Mini Ninjas - Review - What's So Cool About Mini Ninjas on Wii, DS, PS3 and Xbox 360?

Mini Ninjas takes you on a kid-friendly, offbeat, exciting, action-filled quest to conquer an Evil Samurai Warload. This action-packed single player/adventure game packs a whole lot into a small ninja size package! The story of Mini Ninjas is fairly simple and provides a heart touching reflection of ninja culture as seen in many classic ninja/samurai type movies.

When the tranquility of the ninja army is destroyed by the Evil Samurai Warlord seeking world domination, our Ninjas travel from Ninja Mountain to reclaim peace. Hiro, the smallest of them all is armed with authentic ninja weapons and the ability to initiate powerful spells. He'll need all of that and more, as he must lead his small group of Mini Ninjas on an exciting journey to battle the magical army of twisted Samurai.

Mini Ninjas features six playable ninja characters including Hiro, Futo, Suzume, Tora, Shun & Kunoichi. Players initially take on the role of Hiro and then fellow members of his improbable ninja clan. Each ninja utilizes authentic ninja weapons and moves, and possesses his/her own individual skill set.

During your quest, you'll attain Kuji Magic skills, use your full arsenal of ninja abilities, wear versatile ninja hats that can be used as vehicles and shields. Be prepared to call upon your other ninja comrades as you approach the Fortress of Doom.

While Mini Ninjas offers an engrossing storylne, authentic ninja weapons and moves, it remains kid-friendly and features no killing. As Hiro defeats the samurai, it is simply transformed into its original animal form so we're left with cute animals hopping about in happiness.

Mini Ninjas is the newly released exciting action game that takes place in the third person, combining classic button-mashing with a colorful, all-ages aesthetic into one impressive gaming experience that everyone can enjoy.

In Mini Ninjas, the Evil Samurai Warlord plans on dominating the entire world by transforming once-adorable animals into his dangerous, samurai army by using Kuji Magic for the purpose of evil. The Evil Samurai Warlord destroys the natural order of the world, and as a result, it is swept with devastating earthquakes and violent weather. The Ninja Master observes these disturbing events occurring throughout the world from his perch on Ninja Mountain, so his most skilled ninja pupils are sent out to find out what is causing these changes.

These highly skilled ninjas never return to Ninja Mountain. One by one, his students disappear. Finally, the Ninja Master calls upon his only two remaining students : the diminutive Hiro, and the gargantuan Futo, who are sent out from Ninja Mountain. This is where your part in the story begins in Mini Ninjas, with these opening cinematics creating an atmosphere akin to Lord of the Rings, or other epic adventures.

Mini Ninjas uses an aesthetic style which is cartoonish and vibrantly colorful. Every detail, down to the grass, is illustrated as if it were a cartoon, creating a very friendly gaming experience. The combat system and mechanics are also fairly friendly and unoffensive, as there are no violent deaths involved. When any of the evil samurai warriors are conquered, they transform back into their original, adorable animal selves through a neat swirl of smoke.

As Mini Ninjas progresses, Hiro and friends are able to level up and improve their ninja abilities. As you level up, your strength will increase and you'll learn additional ninja skills. Aside from the basic ninja attacks, Hiro can perform feats of Kuji Magic also. With this skill, he can cast lightning bolts and throw fireballs at his enemies.

Futo's skills are based on his mammoth size, and he uses a huge hammer to dispatch his enemies in a more hands-on, physical manner. Each of your ninjas can also use a 'power attack' to damage their enemies more. Hiro's unique power is to jump in the air and temporarily stop time. While the time is paused, you can point out all of your enemies using the on-screen cursor. When time begins to move again, Hiro will zip around and attack every target that you've indicated.

Hiro can also use his Kuji Magic to enter the spirit plane. Using this ability, Hiro can control and possess any animal in his vicinity. These magical abilities are especially useful when you come across powerful animals, such as bears, which are very effective at warding off the evil samurai.

You'll also need to employ a lot of stealth tactics in Mini Ninjas. Hiro can use his environment to his advantage, hiding in the grass as enemies pass him by, and leaping out to attack them while they are unaware of his presence. While much of Mini Ninjas focuses on button-mashing action, these stealth abilities enrich the whole gaming experience and will satisfy gamers who are after a more 'ninja' oriented game.
